What size harness does a large dog need?
Measure chest girth at the widest point behind the front legs, then confirm against weight: Medium 45–75 lb, Large 75–115 lb, XL 115–170+ lb. Buckle every strap and run the two-finger test before the first walk; a loose fit weakens the no-pull redirect.

Does a no-pull harness work on a 100 lb dog?
Yes. The front D-ring turns forward pull into a sideways redirect, so the handler isn't fighting the dog's full body weight in a straight line. Leash tension drops on the first walk; loose-leash training is what makes the change stick.

Why metal buckles on a large-dog harness?
Plastic side-release buckles are the most common failure point under sudden high-force loads. On dogs past roughly 60 lb, a lunge puts enough instant load on the buckle that metal hardware stops being an upgrade and becomes a requirement.
